Education
Teachers - Do you sometimes feel like putting your pupils behind bars?
Now is your chance. Bring them to Inveraray Jail and place them in our custody.
Our Warders, Matron and Prisoners will help your pupils discover for themselves what life was really
like in a Scottish prison in the 19th century.
The Jail, with its beautifully restored 1820 Courtroom and two fascinating old prisons, is ideal for
school parties. There are plenty of "Hands On"
activities.
To increase the sense of involvement we provide special prison clothing and encourage all school parties
to dress up! We can also provide worksheets and personalised Parole Certificates on departure free of
charge.
At least an hour and a half should be allowed for visiting Inveraray Jail. There must be at least one supervisor per ten children.
How to Book:
Free preliminary visits and information packs are offered to all educational group organisers. Please telephone
01499 302381 or email
info@inverarayjail.co.uk to discuss your requirements.
The Jail is situated in the delightful 18th century town of Inveraray.
Nearby are several other places where school parties are welcome:
