Over 6000 men, women and children were tried in this room. We have records of every person who was imprisoned.The room itself is spectacular, with its high roof and central podium for the Judge, but it is the superb models and soundtrack that bring the court to life.
Even for visitors who have been before it is sometimes impossible to tell who are visitors and who are not!
The soundtrack is based on the transcripts of real trials held in the courtroom.
Did You Know?In the early days of the Old Prison prisoners wore their own clothes. New regulations brought in during the 1840's stated that, on arrival, all convicted prisoners should be issued with a set of prison clothing.
