Calling all teachers! Why not place your pupils in our custody? Our costumed characters – the Warder, Matron and prisoners – will help your pupils discover for themselves what life was really like in a Scottish prison in the 19th century by making them feel as if they’ve stepped back in time.

The Jail, with its Courtroom, Old Prison and New Prison, is ideal for school parties as there are plenty of hands-on activities to stimulate young minds.

To add to the fun and increase the sense of involvement we provide worksheets and personalised Parole Certificates on departure free of charge.

At least an hour and a half should be allowed for a visit to Inveraray Jail. There must be at least one supervisor per ten children. We offer all educational group organisers a free preliminary visit and information pack.
